Why did I create Molly J Swimwear?
Many people have asked me why I decided to start my own swimwear line. There were actually a few reasons why I stared this journey:
- I just LOVE swimwear! This may sound like a simple and cliche answer but it’s true! I grew up on the ocean and I will never leave the coast. Also, I believe that bikinis are something a girl can NEVER have too many of.
- My modeling background. Modeling has helped me so much in this endeavor. First of all, I have tried on more swimsuits than I could ever count from modeling jobs. I know what I like, I know what the market likes, and I know which kind of fabrics and cuts make your body look the best! It’s kinda like all these years of modeling have been market research for my brand!
- My education background. I will graduate from Bentley University in May with a degree in sales and marketing. For those of you who don't know, Bentley is one of the top business schools in the country. I have always been interested in fashion, but I wanted to get a business degree so I could have that foundation.
- My social media background. This is probably the most significant reason for starting my own brand! My social media has been growing very fast for the past few years. Once I realized the power of social media, I turned it into a little side business for me. I do paid promotions and collaborations with companies all the time. Everyday, there is something new in the mail; a swimsuit, a watch, clothes, makeup, etc. I promote so many brands and I see how social media can really drive sales for companies. I had always wanted to be a designer when I was a kid, and now I have a business degree too. It all just seemed like perfect timing for me!
This is just the beginning for me! I really hope you guys love the first 5 styles I released because there are many more in the works! :) Over the next few months and into summer I will be releasing more and more styles! An activewear line might even be on the horizon too, so stay tuned!
