What is your favorite thing about Molly J Swim?
They look like they fit all different kinds of women from different body types to different cultural backgrounds
Tell us a little bit about your background… How did you get into fitness?
I was a dancer first for many years, and still am lol. I got injured on stage and had to have surgery. The physical therapy I needed after, fell through, so I did therapy myself. During my injury, I gained 60 pounds and was hugely overweight. So, not only did I have to do my own physical therapy but I had to become my own fitness trainer and Wallah!!
What is your favorite type of workout?
My favorite type of work out would have to be either a Boot Camp style or definitely a barre class. I feel like a barre class helps you with your form and alignment way more than any other style of fitness BUT I also feel like Boot Camp definitely gets your heart rate going and you are able to achieve your ultimate strength on any level through a Bootcamp style workout. Through that sort of High Intensity Interval Training or "HIIT," you get that strength training that makes you feel so amazing when you wake up the next morning!
Whats the best piece of fitness advice you have ever heard?
The best piece of fitness advice I’ve ever heard would be to take it one day at a time. I feel like we can always have goals. When we chop it down to the smallest portion, they actually add up to the bigger portion of our goals a lot quicker! Grab a calendar and think about your goals. What do you want to accomplish a year from now? Then, boil it down to your six-month goal; then, you want to chop that down to a three month goal, then you want to chop it down to monthly. From the month on the calendar you want to break it down weekly and we don't stop at weekly. You break you down your daily schedules, talking more specific, hours? You have to get that specific when you actually want to change whether it’s physical or mental. When you see the change and results you want in your life, you know what you’re doing is really working and that, my friends, is called progress!
Whats the #1 fitness move every women should be doing?
SQUATS and Bent Over Rows! Ok, I couldn’t pick one lol! They are both so good for the glutes, the back, and your core alike. We all have our target areas but those definitely seem to be across the board for most women.
What motivates you?
Failure. It’s the will I create for myself when I have no options. You make them. No excuses no fear. At that point it’s time to WIN! My best work is born this way.
Whats the best way for someone to motivate herself to get fit?
Look in the mirror, stay true to yourself and ask yourself real questions like:
“Am I happy?”
“Do I feel good?”
“If I could change anything physically or mentally what would it be?”
Then literally answer yourself out loud. Once you hear your answers, hold yourself accountable. These are the moments that helped me. A quote that would help me push through when I felt like giving up and I tell my classes often “No one will give you anything you can’t give to yourself: Love , Respect, Integrity, and a fighting chance to be whoever you want to be”
What is something most people don’t know about you?
Im SUPER humble but goofy and opinionated. Also, I LOVE corn dogs! Lol
